Short Poetry

Sharing here are the two short poems I wrote long time ago.

The first poem - Emote Mode - was written two years ago. I remember that I wrote it while I was at work. I was feeling down and confuse at that time, and I was combing my hair when the thought come running through -

"why can't the combing take away my bad thoughts and my confusion"
and that
"no one in my work place knows exactly how I am feeling now"

And so I was able to write the first poem below. It was short because I had to snap back to reality - I was at work :-)

Emote Mode

In every stroke of my comb unto my hair
I wish it would carry away my doubts and fears

Every strand seems to carry a secret
A secret of pain... and of laughter
Moments that can never be forgotten

Every stroke of the comb rekindles the memories
With happiness and pain

In every teardrop that fell unto my cheek
May it wash every bad thought that I have

For the second short poem below, unfortunately, I can't remember the date I wrote it. I probably wrote it when I was still in high school. Because back then, I was the only person who gets a lot of calls - and i mean a lot of calls in a day. And at that time, my head would suddenly pop up like a turtle popping its head out of its shell or my neck would stretch like that of a giraffe whenever I hear the phone rings.

Phone Call

Every time the phone rings
My heart starts to beat so fast
In my mind, there is always a wish
That it is you...
Calling from the other line

But excitement changes into frustration
As I answer the phone
Knowing that it wasn't you...

I like the feeling you create in both these poems, a feeling of discouragement, but also of hope. The image of tears washing away bad thoughts has both despair and hope. Very cool contrast. I like it!

Thanks Ben! :-) I never saw my poem the way you did.. I mean, the interpretation and all that contrast thing (big grin) hmmm... I'm not that very particular with style and all that rules in poetry.. I just write my thoughts; put a little rhyme (sometimes); and that's it - reyapot's poetry
:-)
