I was watching the news last Friday night with my niece and nephew. It was after we watched our favorite gag show. One of the news headlines caught my attention, and made me want to wait for it. A filipino kid named Carlos Philippe Winsett-Palanca is the first pinoy kid who won the U.S. Kids Golf European Championship in Scottland. Carlos is just seven years old! And he is the first Filipino to win in the U.S. Kids Golf Championship. This kid must have had good golf training aids for being able to be very good in his chosen sport. In the interview of his mother, Wednesday Palanca, Carlos started playing golf because of the clubs and other golf accessories that his Grandfather gave him. She also mentioned that although Carlos spends lots of time practicing, she makes it a point that Carlos still spends time playing and doing other kids stuff. The very important lesson that Carlos were able to acquire from this golf experience is the importance of focus and discipline. Sports are really one of the good means in training children and developing their skills and values.
