Barcode Scanner

When I was a kid, one of my dream toys is a cash register. I enjoy playing with my cousins, prentending that we are working in a super market as a Cashier, hehehe... We use news papers as our bills and bottle crowns as coins. My cousins have a set of plastic fruits and vegetables - these are the items we "sell" in our supermarket. I am always the cashier whenever we play the supermarket thing, hehehe... I enjoy the sound of the cash register whener I hit the button that reads "open". It goes like - "caching... caching!" ( I can imagine all the dollar signs $$$$ floating around my head as I press the button and as the cash register goes - "caching..caching!"). And then I would go, "here is your change Ma'am". Hmmm.. miss those days. I miss my cousin most. She's in the US now. And whenever they visit the Philippines, we would reminisce those days when we were still young and playful.

I was hoping to share this supermarket and cash register "experience" with my niece. And so on her 9th birthday, I bought her a cash register toy. Unlike me, she does not like it that much :-D hehehe.. She said it was different from the cash register that she sees at the supermarket. She was asking for the thing that beeps whenever you scan the item on it. For a while there I did not understand what she was saying... the thing that beeps (beep...beep..beep). Oh dear, she was looking for the barcode scanner! Haha.. I just remembered that Cashiers already uses scanners instead of punching the prices of the items on the cash register. Now I have to look for a cash register toy with a bar code scanner. Good luck to me!
