This is Bob Ong's first book - A B N K K B S N PL A Ko (read like a text message or as if reciting the Filipino Alphabet). But if you write it in a proper way, it should be like "Aba Nakakabasa Na Pala Ako". In english, "I can already read" but when you say it, you should sound surprise that you can already read.
The book tells the story of the author's life when he was still a student - from his elementary school, high school and college days. He also shares his ideas and opinions about his teachers, classmates and the life of being a student. This is really a nice read. And if you happen to belong in the same generation as the author's , you would certainly relate with the book.

This is the most recent book of Bob Ong, "Kapitan Sino" (english translation: "Captain Who"). This is the second novel of the author. The first novel he wrote is entitled Mac Arthur. Bob Ong's first few book are all about his opinions and ideas on things around him - personal experiences, current events, and life in general. His first two novels still bear the author's opinion and ideas about life, but they were shown in a different and very creative manner.
The book "Kapitan Sino" tells about how Filipinos look at super heroes and how it affects their lives. How they live life; how they deal with the challenges and blessings of life. It speaks of the truth.. the reality, the sad reality about Filipinos, well for some Filipinos. I am still hopeful that there are other Filipinos out there that looks and deals with life and super heroes differently (in a positive way different).
I suggest that you grab a copy of the book, for better understanding and appreciation of the novel and what it has to say (big grin). It is surely worth it.

Ah you bought the books already ha, I'm still saving for those two, the last that I bought was Bob's Ang Paboritong Libro ni Hudas. The book is a favorite, although there were obscene languages, but the conversations are brainlessly funny - in a way. I also enjoyed Lualhati's Bata Bata Pano Ka Ginawa. Gusto ko rin bilhin yung Dekada 70 saka yung Gapo yata yon...happy reading.
