Last Tuesday, we went to our Makati office in the afternoon for the snack my colleagues prepared for Ms. M. After the short program and the eating, some of us attended the bible study session. I used to be part of the bible study group in our office, but since I was transferred to our Quezon City office, I was not able to attend sessions anymore. We tried forming a group for our Quezon City office, but unfortunately our schedules would not permit us to do so. Anyway, I just want to share what we have discussed that night - Psalm 57. We focused on the first two verses -
1 Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me,
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
for in you my soul takes refuge.
I will take refuge in the shadow of your wings
until the disaster has passed.
2 I cry out to God Most High,
to God, who fulfills {his purpose} for me.
As our leader Ms. D explained it, there are two important messages in this verse, the first one is life never ran out of disaster, but disaster pass. And second, God will continue to fulfill His purpose for us in spite of these disasters that we experience in our lives. Disasters can be trials, problems or concerns. As I understand it, these disasters sometimes leads us or prepares us to God's plan for us. We just need to look at them in a different perspective; looking for the good side of the situation would help us deal with it.
